Stay on budget, stay in a Hostel

Irwan Uno — March 12, 2008 / 6:05 am

Where to stay in Japan can be quite costly, especially when you are to travel to big cities like Tokyo. But not to worry. A hostel would be just the right choice to keep on going with your Japan travel plan, but still, stay on budget! Here I feature one for you planning to go to Tokyo. Located in the heart of Shinjuku area, the Tokyo International Hostel  is not only offering something within budget, but it’s offering luxurious view too.

Well, staying in budget doesn’t mean that you can not have access to high profile view. Check this out! The Tokyo International Hostel is located in the 18th and 19th floors of a high rise building. Cool! You can even enjoy the view of above Tokyo while relaxing in the bath.

While staying in a business hotel can cost you as much as JPY7,000 for what considered ‘fair enough’ in Japan, Tokyo International Hostel offers room rate at highest rate of JPY3,600 per person, with JPY500 discount for members.

What I love about this hostel is because it is located in the heart of Shinjuku area which means you are closed to just every “must-visit” places in Tokyo. It takes only 15 minutes to go to Tokyo station, and only 25 minutes to go to Ueno.

One basic principal when you are planning to stay in a hostel in Japan, you must check in advanced whether or not there will be a room available for you to stay during the time of your planned visit. This is easy to do. Just log on to Tokyo International Hostel website (click the name for the link) and you can do your reservation online.

As most other accommodations in Japan, hostels also have some rules for guests to obey. It would be an embarrassing thing when you happen to break the rules only because you do not know it. Make sure you check out the “dos” and “don’ts” before you go.

If Tokyo is not the end of your journey to Japan and you are continuing to other cities, simply ask the reception to give you information on whether there is a hostel available in your next city destination. Hostels in Japan are very well networked that it is very useful for budget travelers to make reservation. So, don’t let budget comes in your way when it comes to planning your trip to Japan. You can stay on budget while staying in a hostel.
