Ayam Taliwang (Taliwang Chicken)

fahmi — August 12, 2007 / 7:48 pm

One of delicious food in Bali is Ayam Taliwang. The menu is quite simple. A spicy chicken (you can ask the HOT/savoury one if you think spicy is not enough) with 2 types, to be fried or to be grilled.

Actually, Taliwang is a little region in West Nusa Tenggara. I don’t know why Ayam Taliwang is more famous as a food comes from Bali (as far as I know).

When I went to Bali couple days ago, I had an opportunity to taste this food. Well, this is NOT my first time eating Ayam Taliwang, since it is became on of favorite foods in my family, both in Bandung or Jakarta. The driver took us in a tavern in journey to Bedugul. Well, you can see the tavern name in left pic. (well…this is not a promotion…)

I chose hot Ayam Taliwang since I want to measure how hot is the menu. After waiting for 10 minutes, the order is coming. Not more than 5 minutes, the chicken moved into my stomach. Hmmm…quite delicious…and NOT hot enough for my tongue (what a pity).

I think the price is too expensive, because for Rp 18000 (US$ 2), the chicken is quite small. I think ayam taliwang in Bandung is better, even the price is more costly, about Rp 20000 (more than US$ 2) but the size is much bigger than I ate in Bali.

So, don’t miss this food when you go to Bali!! Maybe the taste is fit for you.
