Some unresponsible people tried to smuggle Indonesian heritage skull from Bali to Franch couple days ago. Fortunately, this action could be stopped by imigration staffs.
Prof Dr I Gde Parimartha MA, from Udayana University, said this action against with Indonesian traditions and cultures. He also said Indonesian traditions and cultures were protected by Indonesian constitution, so every illegal export that against with constitution could be dealt in law way.
Some legal exporting can be done if: 1. Researching purpose 2. Educational needed 3. Museum collections
Police Commisioner Ketut Suweta, as Denpasar Police Public Relation, said this incident was still being investigated.
Bali is very sensitive with any issue that related with human skulls, since human skull is a holly and sacred thing, so it’s forbidden to be commerced.
Hope local government set an action to protect the heritage and prevent the same action in the future. source from here, pic from here
