Well, the headline maybe quite provocative, but yes, it’s true. Ida Bagus Made Parsa, as Chief of Transportation, Information, and Communicayion, said that. The statement is related with the incoming Nyepi day, Hindunese Saka New Year 1931, on March 26 2009.
During that day, all transportation will inactive for 24 hours, from 06.00 WITA on Thursday, until 06.00 WITA on Friday.
All harbours and airport, Benoa harbour (Denpasar), Celukan Bawang (Buleleng), Gilimanuk (connecting Bali-Java), Padangbai harbour (connecting Bali-Lembar, NTB), and I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport, will stop their activities.
Just to remind, during Nyepi, all Bali Hindunese will doing amati geni (turn off the light), amati karya (inactive from their activities), amati lelungan (stop travelling), and amati lelanguan (control their desire). source from here, pic from here
