Toward Lebaran holiday, many hotels in Bali were full booked. Well, since majority in Bali is Hindunese, I’m sure the tourists who booked the rooms, not person who back to Bali to celebrate Lebaran. well, maybe there are some people, Moslem I mean, who back to Bali, but I’m not sure they booked many rooms
The harbour activity is also increasing. Gilimanuk is quite crowded. Ngurah Rai airport too. Fiuuhhh.

Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Bali (Bali Conservation Nature Resource) seized hundreds of crustacean, that will be smuggled out from Bali. The type of crustaceans that were seized are Triton Trompet (Trumpet Triton) left pic and Nautilus Berongga (Hollow Nautilus) right pic, which are quite expensive. Those crustaceans were grouped by Balinese garment and other handycraft, in order to deceive the officers. The X-ray scanning is the key, how this smuggling can be prevented.
The destinations of the package is New Caledonia.
This incident is still being investigated by competent officers. Hope they can solve this. news from here, the pics were taken from here and here

More than 6,000 visitors/day came to Bali on August 2008. The exact number, 191,557 visitors came and visited Bali. This number was released by Imigration office. The visitor who left Bali, in the same period, is about 203,959 persons. It means, there is defisit number, about 12,402 visitors.
This number is quite increasing, if we compare with Jan 2008. On that month, it was only about 4,706 visitors/day.
Well, since August is a summer (holiday) season, there is no wonder the number of visitor was increasing on that month. Other fact is, Bali is quite interesting destination for tourists. smile
The challenge is, how Bali Government (in this case, Bali Tourism Department) can manage Bali more effective and efficient, so the benefit from this visitors can be optimized.

Kite is one of Balinese culture. When my family visited Bali annually, when I was a little kid, my father always take me to visit a place where people played kites. Maybe there were 20-30 kites on the sky, try to find the rival and decide who is the best.
These day, kite competition was seldom to be held, as far as I know. Well, at least in the village that I visited, my cousin said that this culture is getting extinct.
Maybe based on that, some artists try to keep this culture exist. They teach how to make a kite to the tourists who want to learn it. One of center of the course is in Dewatan, 25 km northeast from Denpasar. You can also find in Ubud tourism village.
Hmmm…this is the best solution to keep the culture from extinct. Good luck! the pic was taken from here
