Wedding in Bali

Comments fahmi — July 30, 2008 / 6:08 am

Wedding is an unforgottable moment. Many couples want this moment become a VERY special memento not only for them, but also for their families and friends. That’s why so many ways to actualize it.

One of them is by held wedding ceremony in Bali. The attractive of Bali is one reason and I’m sure there are many other reasons for it.

So, many event organizers provide the Bali wedding package into their programs, since there are many requests and of course, the benefit is quite promising. wink Unfortunately, most the EO came from abroad. It means, domestic EO 1 step left behind. Well, maybe there are still many opportunities, but I’m sure the chances is getting small (also the benefit).

Bali is competing with some famous wedding destinations, such as Guam, Hawaii, Fuji, and Phuket. However, I still believe Bali can provide better services than others. the inspiration from here, the pic was taken from here

Comments fahmi — July 26, 2008 / 6:00 am

During vacation couple weeks ago, the tourists number was increasing about 30%, comparing with the same period last year. Ferry Maskus, as official of Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restauran Indonesia (Indonesia Association Hotel and Restaurant), said this in Denpasar on Tuesday.

He said, the reservation of hotels in Bali reached 90%, not only in star hotel but also in medium hotel.

This situation not only happened in Badung and Denpasar district, which are well known as tourism destination, but also in Karangasem and Buleleng district. It means there is a spreading and even distribution in Bali since there are many new tourism destinations appear.

Based on Bali Tourism Agency, during January - May 2008, there are 753,000 tourists visited Bali. Hmm…not bad, I think. Well done!!

The Biggest Ngaben, Ever

Comments fahmi — July 16, 2008 / 5:04 am

Yesterday, a biggest ngaben ceremony was held in Ubud. As we know, ngaben is a Balinese tradition to ’send’ people to nirvana. In this moment, there are 3 persons that will be burned, they are family from Puri Agung Ubud. They are Tjokorda Gde Agung Suyasa which died on 28 Maret 2008, Tjokorda Gede Raka, and ash from Desak Raka.

Their body were placed on 28.5 metres (it’s about 100 feet) tower and some people lift the tower to Pura Dalem, the place where ngaben will be held.

Since those people were royal family, that’s no wonder why this ngaben event is becoming the biggest ngaben ever made. the pic was taken from here

Power Crisis and Tourism

Comments fahmi — July 14, 2008 / 10:48 am

Recently, Indonesia is entering power crisis period. Some areas in Java and Bali will take turns to be extinct the power facility. This situation, direct or indirect, will affect the tourism prospect since many destinations need electricity for running their business.

Tourism and Culture Department hopes this crisis will not disturb the tourism activities, moreover to decrease Indonesian tourism like Bali tragedy couple years ago.

We deserve to worry about this crisis since the progress of incoming tourists is quite good (and makes tourism businessmen are happy), because according the data from Tourism and Culture Department, abroad tourists who came during January - May 2008 is about 2.37 millions. It means the number is increasing 12.95% (or you can say 13% to make easier) from the same period on last year.

Until the end of year, Bali is predicted will be full booked if the increasing number (13%) is coherent.

High Tide in Bali Strait

1 comment fahmi — July 11, 2008 / 5:21 am

Yesterday, Ketapang port (located in Banyuwangi, East Java) was closed by harbour master after it was opened for 6 hours. The reason of the closing is, the tide is quite high in Bali Strait.Preventing the bad condition, the port closing was quite shocked many passengers and drivers that want to cross the strait. The effect is the passengers, drivers, cars, trucks, and others waiting until the weather is back to normal.

This situation, of course, gave effect for Bali tourism, since many tourists, especially from domestic, couldn’t arrive to the destinations.

Well, hope this bad weather is getting better. the pic was taken from here

Qantas & Continental Stop Their Route to Bali

Comments fahmi — July 9, 2008 / 4:30 am

I received a shocking news couple days ago. It said, Qantas&Continental, 2 airline company from Australia & USA, will stop their route and service to Bali. The main reason is the price of oil that is getting higher and they can afford it. But there is another reason, many Indonesia airport less concern about the company of airline.

For the first reason, well, we can’t do anything, since the rising price of oil made most of country almost collaps. But for the second reason, I think our government must take action, because if this situation doesn’t change, we can’t blame the (abroad) airline company whether they stop their service.

The prove of second reason is the insentif for airline company, that serve international traffic, is very low. If we see in abroad, the airline company that provide international route will get some insentive, well you can say the amount is quite interesting. The insentif can be a discount or service or anything that can satisfy the airline company.

Continental not only close the service to Bali, but also fired their labour, about 2,000 stafs. This is the effect of oil price.

Phewww…the effect of price oil that is getting rising is very wide, huh?!whew!

Jegog, A Traditional Dance

2 comments fahmi — July 1, 2008 / 2:03 pm

Bali has many traditional dancings. Jegog is one them. Actually, Jegog is not only about dancing, but combined with silat (a traditional martial art). But, still, the dancing is dominate the show. The Jegog name was inspired from the traditional musical instrument.

Recently, this show was performed in Denpasar. The show was opened by dag, a leader of jegog team, which is also arrange and guide the show. He is also said some jokes during the show.

The show, actually, was divided into 2 parts, a dancing and a martial art. During the show, both of them, a Balinese musical will be played. So the show will more attractive.

Even jegog is still played and performed, but we must still concern about this traditional dance. the pic was taken from here
