To avoid terror enters Bali and in order to capture terrorist(s), the security level in Bali was increased by the local police. Some razias were held in some entry points such as Gilimanuk harbour and Ngurah Rai airport.
Some intruders, well actually they are civil without ID card, were found in a truck. So, they were captured and interogated by Bali police for get further information.
The razia is also involved Brimob, K9, and also anti terrorists personil Dansus88.
Well, since Bali becomes one security indicator in Indonesia, no wonder Police Department and anti terrorists personil Dansus88 try so hard to prevent any terrors enter Bali. That’s why Alexander Downer asked to Bali Governor about Bali security.

Alexander Downer, former of Australia Abroad Minister, asked to Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, about Bali security. This question was being asked since Australia is quite close with Bali and many Australian chose Bali as their destination. Meanwhile, couple weeks ago, Jakarta was terrored by bomb and since many people worried about security, include in Bali, so the question is make sense.
However, statistic ’says’ the number of visitors to Bali is quite increasing, more than 10.25% than last year, in the same period. Last year, the number of visitor was about 971,061 tourists, and this year in the same period, it’s about 1,067,266 visitors.
Total Australian tourists is about 180,686, increase about 37.50% from last year.
So, don’t worry about security in Bali, ok? ;-)

This week, Malaysia made a ‘hot’ movement, by claiming Pendet Bali as Malaysia’ traditional dance. This claim made many Indonesians angry and protest to Malaysia government, especially the dance was inserted into Malaysia tourism commercial break.
After couple days, Indonesia government took an action, by sent a protest note to Malaysia government. Indonesia Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik, tried to calm down Indonesian who got angry, by trying to make a diplomatic movement to Malaysia Minister of Tourism.
Well, I hope this claim can be solved soon.

Many events were held on Bali during July - August 2009. One of them is culture parade which was held on Jembrana. Many attendees came, not only domestic but also abroad. They took participation to introduce their culture to others.
This event will be held on Aug 25 2009 - Sept 2 2009. In the same time, a celebration will be held according the anniversary of Jembrana on 144th.
Local government took “Bhinneka Sandi Adnyana” as theme for this year. The meaning of the theme is diversity for 1 goal.
Anyway, the art parade had been begun on August 14.

At least 10 komodos will be moved to Bali since their existence in their original environment were quite decreasing and toward the extinct. From 10 komodos, they will be 5 males and 5 females (5 couples). Read here.
The other goal of the moving is to get the pure genetic of this species. Well, there are many komodos were spread in some zoos but their tree family is not quite clear and able to be traced.
However, I wrote the rejection from some people about this moving. I’m not sure their action is wise for this moment because, in my opinion, they were only thinking about their interests.
FYI, komodo has their original environment in some islands, they are Komodo Island itself, Rinca Island, Padar Island, and Gilimontang Island.

According the conservation of Komodo, there is one effort that being controversional. The moving of Komodo from Komodo Island to Bali issue became a hot issue, since many domestic staffs reject it.
The moving plan, based on some news, will move many komodos from Flores Island (Komodo Island) to Taman Safari Indonesia in Gianyar Bali.
Some people say the moving plan is supported by legal law because Law No 5 On 1990 is about nature conservation. It is also supported by Minister of Forestry Law SK.385/Menhut-II/2009 based on 13 Mei 2009.
Goal of moving plan is to increase the komodo population, because in their own environment, Komodo Island, their population is decreasing. By moving them to Bali, we hope the komodos population can grow.
Hmmm…confusing? Me, too, hahah.

Bali is still attractive for foreign tourists. We can see from the number of foreign tourists who visited Bali during Jan-June 2009.
From here, I got data the specific foreign tourist visited Bali. There was 1,017,661 arrivals of foreign tourists, where as the economic condition is not quite good since there was an economic crisis since Oct 2008. So, economic crisis (maybe) had no effect with Bali tourism.
I think the Jakarta bomb incident not affect to the tourism as well, since many foreign tourists believe Bali is still safe for tourists.
Sounds great, huh?! Hope more and more tourists visit Bali for next day.

Well, that’s an ‘absurd’ and ‘impossible’ thing if the action will be executed!!
That’s out of my mind when I heard a plan from Government, to move all komodos from Komodo Island to Bali. Forestry Minister said, the moving had to be done in order to conserve the komodo habitat.
The climate and the environment, I think, are the biggest obstacle. Bali, as far as I know, more ‘green’ than Komodo Island, meanwhile the komodo adapt with the ‘desert’ climate I’m not sure they can adapt with ‘green’ environment.
While komodo is getting extinct, I think that’s not an appropriate action to do this. sigh

Well, avian flu is still become a ‘terrorist’, especially for Bali tourism.
After there is no news about avian flu, recently some tourists and Balinese were suspected as victim of avian flu. Right now, they were handled by local hospital for the next treatment.
Fiuuhh…it’s a hard moment for Bali tourism being attacked by 2 kind of diseases in the same time.
Do you agree?
