Well, don’t be hesitate to admit that you don’t know what is sasando. I also just found out the meaning of that word couple days ago. Sasando is traditional music instrument from Pulau Rote, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).

SBY opened the Sasando Festival, last week. In his speech, he also said, the festival will be an Indonesia tourism program that will be held on December. Jero Wacik, as current Tourism and Culture Minister, submitted this festival for prevent Indonesian culture extinct.

There are many favorite foods in Bali that we can be found, such as fried duck. One of favorite fried duck is Bengil fried duck that is located in Ubud. This is Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s favorite each time he visits Bali. This cafe served their customers since 1990.

Another favorite food is roasted fish. Megawati always visit mr Made’s cafe to eat this menu. You can visit the cafe in Jalan Pudak, Desa Batubulan, Gianyar, Bali. The cafe provided sea food as their main menus.

Holiday is coming! It’s time for relax during vacation for your kids. But, I think it’s better for take your kids to Butterfly Park in order to learn something while they enjoy their holiday.

Butterfly Park location is in Tabanan, Bali, about 6 km from Tabanan actually. Hundred butterflies from 15 specieses can be found there.

Many things can be learned from there, such as butterfly collections, their life cycle. So, it’snot only about vacation, but also education.

Hmm…I think I must visit there someday!

Lombok has potency to held “World Dance Championships” in 2010. This statement came out from Vice President of World Dance Council (WDC)), Marcel de Rijk, on Senggigi, West Lombok.

He promised to actualize his statement. But he also need support to succeed Lombok International Dance Championships 2009, today, June 21 2009. He said if the current event succeeded, the trust to Lombok will increase, so next year Lombok can held “World Dance Championships”.

FYI, World Dance Championships is a most prestigious dancing tournament since the participants are the 1st and 2nd winner from every countries which are member of WDC (it’s about 50 countries).

I Wayan Suardana shows his artistic carve that many of them were visualized as elephant.

The carve was made from jati wood, so the strength and the groove of the elephant can be seen in detail. We can see the elephant trunk so smooth and clear.

I Wayan Suardana said, the inspiration came from Bali religion, especially Hindu. Elephant is a symbol of strong and honesty. In his carve, I Wayan put spear, arrow, and shield in the backside of elephant. Meanwhile, in the abdomen of elephant, he put lesung (an Indonesian traditional equipment) as symbol traditional equipment that no longer be used.

We can see this culture and art product in Nusantara Art Exhibition in Galeri Nasional Indonesia (Indonesia National Gallery).

Since May 2009, tourists were forbidden to enter Kampung Naga, Neglasari Village, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya.

The problem is gasoline. What is the connection between gasoline and tourism? Well, Indonesian government had been tried to convert the usage of gasoline into gas (LPG) since 2 years ago. This policy is applied to all people, since there is a significant devisa can be saved from the convert.

But, the gov forgot, their policy couldn’t be applied for Kampung Naga since they are still using traditional equipment which use gasoline for the usage. It affects to daily activity of the villagers.

Ade Suherlin, as key person from Kampung Naga, said the boycott to be visited by tourists has purpose to revive government about their need about gasoline.

There is no information when the boycott will be ended.

Hope government give attention to this problem.

This year, Jakarta Annual Festival will be held on June 4-30, taking place in Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ).

The festival has purpose to conserve Indonesia culture since most Indonesian youth don’t take attention to their own culture. On other hand, many tourists and youth from overseas learn and studying Indonesian culture deeply.

Artistic Manajer of GKJ, Adi Reksodirdjo said the enthusiasm of Jakarta public about this festival is quite good. They attend the festival and give appreciate about the show.

Opening ceremony will be held on June 4, by Jakarta Governor Fauzi Bowo. On that event, flamingo dance will be performed as cooperation with Spain Amabassador.

For Indonesian culture, there are many events, such as Wayang Orang Satya Budaya Indonesia and Ketoprak Guyonan Campur Tokoh Puspo Budoyo.

On May 16-17 2009, an event was held on Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (Jakarta Art Building). Musical dramatical titled ‘Cinta Dasima’ (Dasima Loving) was performed by many ‘Abang-None Jakarta’, featuring Peqho Theatre.
