During this holiday, Kaliurang became one of favorit destination for tourists, both domestic or abroad. Kaliurang is located 24 km from Yogyakarta, can be reached in 30 minutes using public transportation.
It’s about 2,000 tourists (most of them are domestic) came to enjoy the place. It’s more 3 times if we compare the number on daily visiting. Usually, it’s only 600 tourists came. So, with 2,000 tourists, it means Kaliurang tourism staffs must work quite hard to manage.
Many tourists had came to Kaliurang recently not only to enjoy the place, but also to take participate or just watch Grebeg Syawal, one of traditional event from Yogyakarta. This event was held after Great Eid (idul Adha).

French Airline, Air France, made a collaboration with KLM, Dutch Airlines, to establish a direct flight from Amsterdam to Denpasar (via Singapore). Air France - KLM Country Manager, Axel Colen, said this statement after met Denpasar major IB Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra, SE. Msi on Tuesday.
This direct flight was established since many Europan Tourists have a quite high demand to flight (direct) to Bali. Recently, European tourists who want to visit Bali must transit in Jakarta, before they take a flight to Bali.
The frequency of flight is medium level, three times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, using Boeing 300 with 425 passengers capacities.
Hmm..nice news. So, Bali must prepare a lot of things to greet those tourists. Don’t you agree?

Makassar, which is located in South of Sulawesi, has many beautiful and maginificent destinations. Unfortunately, the local government doesn’t quite care about this potentials. So, the visiting to Makassar is not quite high.
If we try to search more deep about the potentials in Makassar, we will find out Trans Studio, Bira Bulukamba beach, and Bantimurung Butterfly garden. There are others than those 3 and I believe each destinations have a special thing.
Recently, the promotion is not quite deep and focus. A slogan “Visit Losari” that had been announced since last year, had not attract many tourists (domestic and abroad) to visit Makassar, because the focus of that slogan is South Sulawesi, not Makassar itself.
Meanwhile, more than 112 flights a day come in and out in Makassar. That’s a quite great number and you can promote anything to those passengers.
Well, hope this problem can be solved, soon.

On 2010, Culture&Tourism Department has a plan to build about 200 tourism villages in Indonesia. This number is increasing 100% from the original plan since there is a program from Indonesia Government. Each villages will receive about Rp 80 million - Rp 100 million to fix and enhance the (tourism) facilities on their place.
Some facilities that will be built in each villages are homestay, souvenir industry, culinair places, and local activities and cultures.
I think this is a good and strategic action to improve Indonesian tourism. :-)

Actually, some destinations in Indonesia can attract many tourists from many countries, also from Malaysia.
Malaysian tourists have quite high interest to visit West Sumatera. It can be seen from the increasing of the arrival during July 2009. From here I read that on July more than 6.872 Malaysian tourists came.
There are many reasons why Malaysian tourists attract to visit West Sumatera. The location and the culture could be the main reasons since the location is quite near from Malaysia and they have similar culture, Melayu culture.
I’m sure the Malaysian tourists will increase during Eid Mubarak, Christmas, and New Year.
Do you agree with me?

Well, since bomb incident on July, some people think the Jakarta tourism is going to doom point because the bombing happened in the strategic region in Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, a part of Golden Triangle. And also, the bomb was pointing hotel, a place that never been thought will being a bomb target.
The lucky thing is Jakarta tourism recovers in short period. There are many factors:
To proof that Jakarta tourism had been recover, at least 3 (big) events will be held. They are Jakarta Film Festival (Jiffest), Jakjazz, and Jakarta Fashion Week. Jakarta Fashion Week will start the event on November, took place in Pacific Place. Then on Jiffest during Dec 4-12 2009 and almost in the same time Jakjazz will be held on Dec 4-6 2009.
Are you dare to attend those events? ;-)

Based on some claims from Malaysia to many Indonesian cultures, I think Indonesia Gov must starting keep Indonesian cultures. Since Indonesia has many traditional cultures, I think the gov must take strategic plans to collect and register them.
Right now, Indonesia gov must declare that Tari Pendet is one of Indonesian cultures! The claim from Malaysia about Tari Pendet must be refractabled and Indonesia gov must explain the ‘real thing’ to the world. In other word, PROOF TARI PENDET CAME FROM BALI, INDONESIA, NOT MALAYSIA!
As we know, Malaysia claimed Tari Pendet as their culture since they put it in their ads. This action made Indonesian, especially Balinese, got angry since Tari Pendet is very well known as Balinese dance, NOT Malaysian!
Fiuh, this claim is getting complicated, since Malaysia gov did nothing except stop the ads. angry

One of favorite destination for tourists, local and abroad, is Mentawai. Especially for the surfer, they are very happy and exciting with the beach in Mentawai. The waves is quite challenging and the blue of sea is attracting anybody to surf.
Well, in Mentawai you can take a rest in uma, or Mentawai traditional house. While stay there, you can relax and enjoy the environment such as the Mentawai culture and Butui river.
I hope someday I can visit Mentawai and enjoy the beach and waves.

Indonesia has many exotic places and destinations. One of them is Calabai, Dompu in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). We can see the beauty and view around Tambora mountain there. You also can visit beaches and enjoy undersea world by diving.
If we arrive on the destination, we will feel the time is stopping since the infrastructure doesn’t have good quality. So, the tourists must on foot to reach many places. In other word, you can ‘enjoy’ being a ‘pre-historic’ because it’s quite difficult to find a ‘modern’ transportation.
However, I believe some tourists prefer to explore the destinations on foot. Of course, they must prepare their physical health.
