A member of DPR (house of representative), Joko Santoso, said the idea of Visit Indonesian Year 2008 is a big mistake since, he said, some tourists are known better the detail of destination tourists in Indonesia. He suggested, the motto is ’should’ like Visit Toba Year, Visit Musi Year, etc.
Joko said some destinations in Indonesia have a good chance to compete with some international’s destination, but the support from the government (local or central government) are so low and also ignore this potenty. No wonder, domestic tourist prevent to go abroad to see the similar tourist objects.
The potenty of Indonesian destinations (tourism) is really great. With Rp 1 triliun (about US$ 1 billion) as a modal, tourism can produce more than Rp 40 triliun (US$ 4 bilion). But, since the supported and ignorance from government, this income wouldn’t become a reality.
Hope the government realize about this situation and have will to change to the better paradigm and vision and mission. the pic is taken from here
