Indonesia, as a maritim country, has a very big potential of maritim tourism. Unfortunately, this potency is forgettable since this government is busy with other businesses and other tourism objects.
Many maritim tourism objects can be found in Indonesia. The simplest thing is Bali. But, Bali is not the only maritim tourism object in Indonesia. There is an area that is called “Triangle Coral Reef Destination”. This area is covering Wakatobi, North Halmahera, Sorong, or Raja Ampat.<!–more–>
I think the reason why maritim tourism is being ‘forgettable’ because the cost for this tourism is quite high. For example, tourists must expense US$1,000 (about Rp 10 juta) only to reach the location of maritim tourism. (Note: this cost is calculated if the tourist use Soekarno Hatta airport as base)
For daily expense, it’s about US$ 150/day. So, you can calculate, how much money that must be prepared by a tourist to spend holiday in, let’s say, 10 days. About US$2,500 and for domestic tourist, the amount is quite high, because with the same expense, domestic tourist can spend more than 20 days for holiday.
So, we must wait the government’s will whether they will reduce the cost for maritim tourism? Or this sector will be forgettable forever, and it means we bungle this gift. :-(
