Since Saturday until Sunday, April 12-13 2008, a special carnival was held. Why special? Because, it’s different with common carnival, this carnival is batik carnival, Solo batik carnival for sure.
This carnival has a special concept, fashion show on the street. Some models will perform some customes and fashions which were made from batik. More than 200 models will be involved, since Slamet Riyadi street, the longest street in Solo, will be used as the catwalk.
Many participants will join this event. They are students, house wife, lecturers, and many more.
The carnival will start with Srawung Batik, a promotion and batik fair. In Srawung Batik, we also can find cuisine and some arts demo.
If this carnival become an annual event, we can put this event to attract tourists, from domestic or aboard.
Hope Solo government will follow up this event to enrich Indonesian culture event. pic was taken from here
