Jero Wacik, as Minister of Culture and Tourism, claimed that Visit Indonesia Year 2008 has been succeeded, based on tourists traffic for first quarter. The data was confirmed from Statistic Centre Biro (Biro Statistik Pusat/BPS). During first quarter, BPS recorded about 5.5 million tourists came to Indonesia. It is mean, there is increment about 15% than first quarter on 2007.
Based on this number, the target of VIY 2008, 7 million tourists, is predicted can be reached.
The minister is also said that many VIY 2008 activities took 100 years of Indonesia Awakening as theme or sub theme.
Recently, there were many demonstrations that happened. Some opinions said this demonstrations can fail VIY 2008, but others were rejected, since the demonstrations could be controlled by police.
Well, we hope VIY 2008 is REALLY succeed, not only based from quarter data, but until 2008 is over.
