Batik Laweyan

fahmi — August 25, 2008 / 10:24 am

There are many variants of batik. One of them is batik Laweyan from Solo.

Laweyan was coming from the village where majority of the residents work as batik maker. On this village, batik become part of life, not only for (ceremonial) dressing but also for becak (one of traditional Indonesia vehicle) accessories.

Nowadays, there is a batik course which was held on that village. Through this course, batik amorousness can be grown, not only to attract tourists to visit and buy the product.

Recently, Batik Laweyan becomes one of most wanted batik. Well, I think this is not startling me, since (like I said before) batik becomes part of life of Laweyan resident, so the products have good (or maybe the best) quality from other batik products. the pic was taken from here
