Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jero Wacik, predicted during this year (2008), Indonesia will get more than US$ 6.4 Billion from 6.4 million tourism who visited Indonesia. He said this during meeting 2009 Tourism Marketing.
However, target to attract 7 million tourists is almost impossible to be achieved, based on survey from Central Statistic Council. It said only 6.3 - 6.4 million tourists will visit Indonesia during 2008. Nothing more. Many causes in Indonesia that made many tourists cancel their vacation, even Indonesia government guaranted the security.
For 2009, Jero Wacik said, Indonesia gov had already have plan to attract more tourists by promote some (new) events in some areas. The tag is still the same, Visit Indonesia, but now it splits base on locations, such as Visit Batam, Visit Bali, etc.
The potential tourists, based on statistic, came from Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Australia. That’s why the promo is quite often being held in those countries, repeatedly.
